September is Chiari Malformation Awareness Month. A serious neurological disorder where the bottom part of the brain, the cerebellum, descends out of the skull and crowds the spinal cord, putting pressure on both the brain and spine and causing many symptoms.
It is seen in one to three-percent of the population.
The vast majority of people that have a Chiari Malformation are probably asymptomatic. However there is also a number of people who can develop very serious symptoms from it.
I am one of those rare people. This condition could be fatal and has been for some. This is why we need to elevate awareness and research and conquerChiari!
