Turmeric Golden Milk

I have found one absolute go-to recipe, when it comes to helping with my inflammation, pain and even falling asleep at night. It’s Golden Milk!

I never even heard of this stuff until a few years ago. Now, I can’t go but a few days without it. My husband was a big skeptic and now, even he swears by this drink. Now I am not a medical professional and cannot advise. However, this has been something that has worked for me and it’sso yummy. Trust me, this is one you will want to try.

1 1/2 cups coconut milk (canned)

1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk

1 1/2 tsp ground turmeric (I use fresh that I’ve dehydrated and ground)

1/4 tsp ground ginger (I use fresh)

1/2 tsp real vanilla

1 whole cinnamon stick (or 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon, I prefer the stick)

1 Tbsp MCT oil

1 pinch ground black pepper

Sweetener of choice (coconut sugar, maple syrup or stevia to taste, I prefer Stevita)

To a small saucepan, add coconut milk, almond milk, ground turmeric, ground ginger, cinnamon stick, coconut oil, black pepper, vanilla and sweetener of choice (I usually use 1 TBsp Stevita)

Whisk to combine, then continue to whisk frequently for about 4 minutes over medium heat. Do not let it come to a boil. Heat only until hot to the touch.

Turn off heat, adding more sweetener to taste.

Divide between two mugs, leaving the cinnamon stick behind and serve immediately. It can be stored covered in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Just reheat on the stove. I prefer fresh, however.

I also prefer sprinkling a little nutmeg on just before serving.

I’d not heard of MCT oil, but will give it a try 👍🏼

MCT oil is most commonly extracted from coconut oil, as more than 50% of the fat in coconut oil comes from MCTs.

You really don’t have to add it as long as you are using coconut milk. Once in a while, I just skip the coconut milk and just use the MCT oil and almond milk. I know I’m still getting the same great benefits.
